I have two picture postcards (ppc) from my mother. She wrote to her father when they were both overseas in the early 1950s. She was attending the Malayan Teachers' Training College at Kirkby, near Liverpool. He was probably completing his postgraduate studies after the war, and after 1950 - when the Queen's Scholarship scholars were allowed to further their studies in England. He stayed at 55 Courtfield Gardens, London, S.W.5., England. Then he visited Europe.

Dear Daddy,
I'm writing from Switzerland and I'm spending 5 days here.
I'll be going to Paris on Friday.
We are having bad weather for the last 2 days.
I don't have a holiday ticket and I can't go to the mountains as it costs a terrible price.
I'll be in London on September 1st at about 10.30 pm and I'm putting (up) at a Youth Camp.
I'll break away from the party the next morning and go up to your place.
If you want to write to me here is my address at Paris,
Hotel des Empereurs, 20, Rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Paris.
Give my love to Aunty.
