I first met Aunty Esther when we met at Impiana KLCC in Kuala Lumpur. Jeffrey brought his mother and family. I was walking straight ahead into a 'big man' and he turned out to be my cousin Jeffrey. A good thing I didn't ask him, "You Mat Salleh ke?" That was my first time meeting him even though my siblings have met him before.
Aunty Esther looked just like my mother. I could not believe my eyes when I first saw her, and I had thought my mother was 'really alive and walking again'. I sat close to her to see if she was my real mother! How weird! LOL.
We went through my book (draft), affectionately called 'the purple book'. All my kids and my husband know which book I'm referring to if I mention 'buku purple'.
Aunty Esther married to Uncle Aelian Cantlay Schokman on 5 September 1959. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2009.
